Ce travail a été réalisé entre 2022 et 2024 sur les villes de Brest et Lorient. L’objectif de cette approche photographique est de réfléchir sur la trame de l’aménagement de ces deux cités. Brest et Lorient ont la particularité d’avoir des bases militaires, à l’intérieur de la ville et sur leurs contours. Le travail s’oriente sur ces paysages confisqués et de plus en plus ouverts au public. De plus nous vivons une période transitoire entre ces paysages publics et privés: un exemple avec la mise en place du téléphérique permettant d’ouvrir le paysage de l’Arsenal aux brestois, et les anciennes bases sous marines ouvertes au public à Lorient. A travers un parcours photographique entre littoral et aménagement urbain, en longeant les zones des limites extérieures, les clichés soulignent les strates historiques de la construction des deux villes et leur expansion tout en revenant sur la représentation du passé architectural, des voies de communication, des espaces naturels, des activités économiques, sportives et culturelles.
This project was carried out between 2022 and 2024 in the cities of Brest and Lorient. The aim of this photographic approach is to reflect on the urban fabric of these two cities. Brest and Lorient are distinctive in that they have military bases, both within the city and on their outskirts. The project focuses on these confiscated landscapes, which are increasingly being opened up to the public. Furthermore, we are living through a transitional period between these public and private landscapes: one example is the installation of the cable car, which has opened up the Arsenal landscape to the people of Brest, and the former submarine bases in Lorient that have been opened to the public. Through a photographic journey between the coastline and urban development, tracing the outer boundaries, the images highlight the historical layers of the construction of the two cities and their expansion, whilst revisiting the representation of the architectural past, transport routes, natural spaces, and economic, sporting and cultural activities.
